Telehandler Training Courses Kelowna - Employers are responsible for making sure that their operating personnel and supervisors are trained to work competently with telehandler equipment. The skill level of employees have to be assessed. If deficiencies are found, employers need to provide training so that staff obtain the required level of skill. The responsibility level of the individual should be considered when training is offered. Effective training will remedy whatever deficiencies in the skills, understanding and knowledge of telehandler supervisors and operators. Training may be undertaken by engaging the services of an external training provider or through in-house sessions. An assessment upon completing the training period would determine if the learning goals have been met or not.

Federal, state/provincial and local regulations set out guidelines for basic telehandler operator training and testing. Basic training does not address such topics as the lifting of people, the lifting of suspended loads, the utilization of rotating machinery or the use of various attachments. Further training will have to be undertaken if such tasks are needed on the work location.

Maintenance and Inspection
Like whichever equipment, a telehandler requires effective maintenance. The equipment inevitably will suffer wear over time. Proper maintenance is essential to ensuring safe operation of the telehandler machine. Inspections and checks are essential to ongoing maintenance measures. Operators must have machine-specific training in order to monitor, prevent and rectify problems connected with wear, deterioration and damage. Employees need experience and competence in both breakdown and periodic maintenance. The preventive maintenance directions of the manufacturer must be seriously viewed and followed, taking into account such factors as frequency of use and environmental conditions in the work setting.

The user of the machine along with the owner of the equipment share the responsibility for making sure that the telehandler is in full working condition. General maintenance is usually done by the telehandler owner whereas pre-use checks are typically done by the user.
